
POSITION TITLE:
LINE MAINTENANCE WORKER
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs sewers, pumping stations, and related structures; requirements also include maintenance of building and grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Under direct supervision, makes repairs to sewer systems to insure that systems are function properly. Checks and cleans equipment and tools. Drives trucks of various sizes and weights while loading, hauling, and unloading various equipment. Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging (using air tools), manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair. Assist in the operations of video inspections on sewer mains.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
The Line Maintenance Worker works under the direction and supervision of his assigned Foreman and/or Director of Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Employee must have knowledge of basic tools and related sewer equipment including tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, compressors, generators, hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, and be able to perform manual labor.
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey drivers license and capable of receiving a NJ Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The incumbent works regularly in outside weather conditions; frequently works with moving mechanical parts, and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The incumbent occasionally works in confined spaces and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Employee may be required to submit to random Drug & Alcohol testing as per Federal Regulations.
SALARY POSITION: Non-Exempt
